Samarkand Bukhara Silk Carpets was established in 1992 as a joint venture workshop with the aim of reviving the lost tradition of carpet weaving in Central Asia. Located in the heart of the ancient Silk Road and under the direction of master craftsman, Haji Mohammad Ewaz Badghisi (Haji-Baba), the work-shop undertook the task of reintroducing the art of handmade carpets using natural dyes, such as onion skins, madder roots, walnut shells, pomegranate and other plants. |
